What is Translation?

Translation is not simply “writing in another language”. The process of translation reaches beyond that; it involves not only advanced language skills but also subject knowledge and social and cultural competence within two linguistic communities.

How can you see the quality of a translation?
The answer is that usually, you can't. Thankfully if you choose Linguaset as your translation provider you don't need to. We absolutely always have a second translator carefully check and proofread all of our work.

Languages of the world

It is estimated that there are almost 7000 living languages in the world today.

Even though Linguaset has been in business for almost two decades, we have not yet translated into all of these languages, however, no matter how rare the language you require a translation for, we will be happy to help!

In this section you will find articles on the most popular languages we are asked to translate, from Arabic to Uzbek, just browse the menu on the left to find the language you are interested in.

Various studies indicate that around 7,000 languages are spoken in the world. However, the distribution of the different continents is very irregular. African languages and Asian countries represent around 32%, the Americas 15% and the Pacific about 18% while Europe is home to only 3% of the world's languages.

Half of the world's languages are concentrated in 8 states: Papua New Guinea (≈ 830),
Indonesia (≈ 730), Nigeria (≈ 510), India (≈ 400), Mexico (≈ 290), Cameroon (≈ 290)
Australia (≈ 270) and Brazil (≈ 230).

Despite the large number of existing languages and the need to preserve them, few are in good health. Globalization may cause some communities to abandon their languages. However, it can also be an opportunity to spread the different languages that coexist on the planet. According to UNESCO, about 50% of the languages in the world are endangered, 96% are spoken by only 4% of the world's population and over 90% of Internet content is in only 12 languages.
