Russian Typesetting

Russian typesetting presents more challenges than typesetting in European languages. Russian is of course written using the Cyrillic alphabet, so special fonts are required to typeset in Russian. Linguaset holds a large selection of Cyrillic fonts which are suitable for typesetting in Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Macedonian and other Slavic languages. Cyrillic is actually used in over 70 different languages across Asia.

Linguaset will translate any text into Russian , and then, after proofreading, our studio will typeset the new Russian document, we will usually be able to match the typeface used in other language versions, if not exactly then we will use a similar font. Delivery would normally be by high resolution PDF, Illustrator or EPS files, with all of the Russian text outlined to avoid any problems with fonts. We can also deliver the job as an InDesign or Quark document, again with outlined Russian text in position.

Corrections to the Russian typesetting

Because we do all of our Russian typesetting in-house (which is very unusual in the language industry) we are able to respond very quickly to the inevitable authors' amendments which arise with any typesetting work, not just Russian typesetting! We nearly always deliver small corrections to typeset jobs within a few hours, or even immediately if asked. We have a very high speed internet connection and our clients can download their Russian artwork files from a secure ftp server at a speed of 50Mb/sec (if their connection is fast enough).

Reliability and Security

We also have the hardware infrastructure necessary to give a fast and reliable service to our clients. All clients' typesetting work is held on a redundant RAID 5 disc cluster, with continuous on-line multi-variant backup. This means that we can retrieve any file even if it was accidentally deleted from the main server. We also provide white-label hosting of Russian websites, or indeed websites in any language, which we are localising for our agency clients, so that their clients can view sites which are under development, remaining unaware of our involvement in the Russian website localisation process.
